John Pugh

Research Assistant

John recently graduated college with a degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, finishing with a 3.94 GPA. Close to a 4.0, required Spanish classes remained the bane of his existence.

John has experience in leadership and academic research. This includes working for NYT’s Bestselling author Dr. Tasha Eurich, during which he completed vigorous, in-depth literature review research projects for her upcoming book "Becoming Shatterproof" (April 2025) looking into topics such as the philosophical and religious origins of resilience, post-traumatic growth, and Self Determination Theory.

He lives in San Diego, California and is curious about everything around him. He enjoys immersing himself in many different activities including nature photography, hiking, and playing guitar. He reads constantly and broadly, and especially enjoys history and biography.  He also loves chess and was once ranked in the top 10% of chess players worldwide. Nowadays he enjoys playing more casually and likes to stop by the local library for games. He is an avid sports fan. Don’t get him started on the Chargers leaving San Diego (although it was years ago, it will never not be too soon).

John loves a challenge as he has hiked solo to the top of the tallest waterfall in North America, hiked from the rim of the Grand Canyon down to the Colorado River and back up in one day, and has ALMOST not cried when getting stung by a stingray while surfing. Almost.
